Scratch News - Jan/Feb of 2007

Scratch Golf launched its LDG grind wedges which are specifically designed for women golfers. Like all Scratch Golf wedges, the LDG wedges are forged from 1018 carbon steel, the softest steel available in golf equipment technology. Scratch Golf wedges are the only wedges in golf that are offered in differing sole grinds that are designed to fit specific golf swings. The LDG grind ladies wedges are made specifically for players with slower swing speeds, a shallow attack angle and little to no divot. The sole of the LDG grind wedge is designed to sweep along the ground with limited ground contact. Center trailing edge relief provides a thinner effective sole and a recessed leading edge helps prevent thin shots. These design characteristics suit a vast majority of women golfers and the way they swing. The LDG Wedge series is available in 55 and 60 degree lofts. Scratch Golf will donate a portion of the proceeds of each LDG wedge sale to breast cancer research.

We at Scratch Golf are extremely proud to introduce the LDG grind wedges for women, stated Scratch Golf CEO Ari Techner. I am confident that we have created wedges that will help women golfers with their scoring around the greens. Not only will the LDG grind help with making solid contact but our 1018 carbon forgings will provide an incredibly soft feel around the greens. With golf balls getting harder and harder each year, having soft forged wedges will make a real difference to women golfers. We are especially proud to offer the Scratch Golf LDG wedges as what we believe are the only truly forged wedges specifically made for women. It is our pleasure to present the LDG wedges and we are very proud that they have been featured in this month's edition of Golf for Women magazine. We are also currently making wedges for women on the LPGA Tour. I know that Scratch LDG wedges will help improve the scores and enhance the enjoyment of the game for women golfers everywhere.

Scratch Golf wedges were in the bag of a competitor that tied for 25th at the 2007 PGA Tour's AT & T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. A Nationwide Tour player on a sponsor's exemption took advantage of his Scratch wedges to shoot an opening round 68 en route to his best ever PGA Tour finish. Scratch Golf Clubs were in the bag of at least one other participant at the long-time popular event at Pebble Beach, formerly known as the Crosby Clambake.

The AT & T at Pebble Beach is such a storied event on the PGA Tour, Scratch Golf co-founder and CEO Ari Techner commented. “For many people, golf season really begins here at Pebble in early February. We are truly honored that our wedges have now been put "officially" in play at a PGA event here at this fabulous old course. It is a very proud moment for us here at Scratch and a great way to kick off what we hope will be a great year for us on the PGA Tour.

Scratch Golf announced that it has granted Flog & Birdie Sports of Stockholm the exclusive distribution rights to Scratch's line of premium wedges and irons. These rights will include Sweden and all of Scandinavia. Flog & Birdie Sports has been one of Sweden's leading golf equipment distribution companies for many years and currently features another extremely innovative golf equipment technology company, the Heavy Putter. Scratch Golf company officials have reported a dramatic increase in the number of hits from Sweden in recent days to the Scratch Golf website, which is a strong indication that the word about the unique wedge choices Scratch has to offer is getting out in Sweden now. Sweden is recognized as a very important European market among golf industry veterans.

“I am very pleased that Flog and Birdie will be bringing Scratch Golf equipment to Sweden, stated Anders Dahlen, President of Flog & Birdie Sports. Scratch wedges have a tremendously soft feel. In fact, these are the softest wedges I have ever hit. These wedges also make beautiful contact with the ball once a golfer is put into the correct "grind", which is very easy to do. The entire team at Flog and Birdie is excited about representing Scratch Golf as we launch this new product into our market. I am quite certain that Scratch equipment will be a success in Sweden among both amateur and professional golfers.

We at Scratch Golf couldn't be happier to have Flog & Birdie introducing us to the Swedish golf market, Scratch Golf V.P. of Sales and Communications Steve Zunich observed. “I have known and worked with Anders for many years and he and his staff will do a first rate job of marketing our products effectively. Flog & Birdie has many contacts with Sweden's top Tour Pros and they also do a superior job of not only selling products that they believe in but also teaching their customers to sell those products through. Anders and his team are also experts at telling a golf company's story and getting that message out to the media and Flog & Birdie's clients and prospects. All told, we could not be with a better company in Sweden and that entire region. With this partnership, Scratch Golf has taken another important step toward making our company an international success.
